Beneath the Myth: The Story Behind The Kodiak 1 of 6

Every meaningful story begins with a bond.

Some bonds are formed through blood. Others grow through friendship, faith, shared pain, or the simple decision to stand beside someone when walking away would be easier. In The Kodiak, those connections matter as much as the battles. They shape the characters, influence their choices, and give them something worth protecting.

Although The Kodiak is a mythic dark fantasy, its emotional foundation comes from life.

For a long time, I worried that someone might steal the idea or create something similar before I had the chance to tell my story. Many creative people know that feeling. An idea comes to us, but we sit on it. Then one day, we see something advertised that resembles what we imagined, and we wonder whether we waited too long.

Eventually, I realized that The Kodiak could not be taken from me so easily.

Creatures like the one depicted in the story have appeared in legends for generations. The beast alone is not what makes this story personal. The most intriguing part of The Kodiak is the human story beneath the mythology.

That human is me.

When I look at the characters, I see different parts of myself. No single character represents me completely. Instead, each one carries a different emotion, question, struggle, or strength from my life.

Their bonds reflect the connections that have carried me. Their conflicts reflect battles I have faced within myself. And their journeys remind me that who we become is often shaped by the people we love, the people we lose, and the people who help us continue.
